About HoldFast Collective

Welcome to the HoldFast Collective, a community-based organization located in Southern Ontario, Canada. Our mission is to connect people in need with the necessary help, without involving any currency exchange. Our network operates on a barter system, where members contribute their skills and resources to assist one another.

Mission Statement

At The Holdfast Collective, our mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities with the resources they need to create, build, and transform. We believe that access to tools and knowledge is the cornerstone of self-reliance, sustainability, and community strength. Our aim is to provide a platform that redefines the way tools are shared and utilized. We strive to foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and resourcefulness. Through our decentralized tool library, we facilitate the exchange of tools among neighbors and friends, unlocking opportunities for innovation and self-improvement. We are committed to:

Accessibility: Making a diverse range of tools accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial means, so that individuals can tackle DIY projects, repairs, and creative endeavors.
Community Building: Creating a vibrant and connected community of tool enthusiasts who share knowledge, skills, and experiences. We believe in the power of community to support, inspire, and uplift one another.
Sustainability: Promoting the principles of sustainability by reducing waste and encouraging the responsible use and maintenance of tools. By extending the life of tools, we contribute to a more sustainable future.
Education: Providing resources, workshops, and educational content to help members become more proficient in using tools safely and effectively. We are passionate about fostering a sense of empowerment and self-reliance.
Innovation: Encouraging innovation and creativity by giving members the tools they need to bring their ideas to life. We celebrate the spirit of experimentation and invention.

What are are NOT about:

Capitalism: We do not prioritize profit over people. We are structured to embrace fair trade principles and seek to minimize exploitative economic practices.
Exclusivity: We do not exclude anyone based on financial means or background. Our community is open and inclusive, promoting diversity, and ensuring that tools are accessible to all.
Waste: We do not condone wastefulness. Our commitment to sustainability means we actively discourage unnecessary consumption and aim to extend the life of tools, reducing the environmental footprint.
Resources hoarding: We do not encourage hoarding or monopolizing tools. Instead, we promote the responsible use of resources and sharing to ensure that tools are available to as many members as possible.
Unawareness: We are not here to keep knowledge and skills hidden. We actively support education and are dedicated to ensuring our members have the information and training they need to use tools safely and effectively.
